Steri-Fab FAQ'S

How is Steri-Fab applied?

Steri-Fab can be applied using a sprayer that will work with a water thin liquid. (When using an electric sprayer, check with the manufacturer for compatibility with a flammable liquid).

Steri-Fab should not be used to replace existing products. Steri-Fab should be used in addition to other products. (Currently using a standard disinfectant - one that is diluted with water that is used to mop floors, etc.)

Steri-Fab should be used for applications that other products are not suitable for, eg: to be sprayed directly on furniture, lockers, cabinets, drawers, carpets, car interiors, animal bedding/cages, beds, bus seats/interiors, hospital waiting room areas, doctor's offices, police cars, prisons/holding cells, garbage bins, etc.

Does Steri-Fab require dilution?

No. Steri-Fab should be used as is.

How do you get rid of bed bugs with Steri-Fab?

  • Remove any clutter, including stacks of paper or piles of laundry.
  • Treat all affected areas with Steri-Fab bed bug spray.
  • Clean all the affected rooms thoroughly.
  • Vacuum beds, carpets, chairs, drapes, blinds and more.
  • Wash all sheets and bedding in HOT water.
  • Contrary to popular belief, bed bugs can invade the cleanest of places and the victims often have no idea where they came from or how to rid of them!

How long does it take Steri Fab to work?

Steri-Fab works on contact when it is wet and is inactive after it dries. This has become one of the major selling points of the product because it reinforces the non-residual qualities of the product

Can any EPA registered product be applied to mattresses, etc?

Steri-Fab is labeled for application on mattresses, upholstered furniture, carpets, and many other inanimate objects. If a product label does not specifically mention these it is a violation of federal law to apply them.

Why should I use the Steri-Fab Continuous Action Sprayer?

The CAS is fully labeled for use with Steri-Fab, conforms to all legal requirements, and is manufactured specifically to spray Steri-Fab. The CAS is free of any other chemicals or contaminants. The CAS is fitted with a nozzle that disperses Steri-Fab at a rate that supports our coverage estimates (1500 square feet per gallon).

How can Steri Fab not be residual?

Steri-Fab is a combination of synthetic pyrethroid, a dual quat and isopropyl alcohol. When the product dries (15-20 minutes at room temperature) it is no longer active.

How does Steri-Fab work as a disinfectant?

Like many disinfectants, Steri-Fab is an antimicrobial agent that will kill many microorganisms on contact. Unlike antibiotics, which are designed to destroy microorganisms within the body, disinfectants like Steri-Fab work by destroying the microbes at the cellular level or hindering their basic metabolic functions. That’s why Steri-Fab is commonly used in hospitals, prisons, dental surgeries, kitchens, bathrooms, offices - anywhere that humans live or work.
